Turkish indies launch distribution business
Turkish production companies Medyapim and Ay Yapim have teamed to launch a new distribution business.
Medyapim Ay Yapim Drama Distribution Entertainment (MADD) will carry programming from both producers, and marks one of the first local distributors to have launched in the Turkish market, which has been dominated by third-party groups such as Eccho Rights and Fox Networks Group Content Distribution.
MADD will be led by managing director Ates Ince, who was previously chief revenue officer at Doğus Media Group, and director of international sales Ozlem Özsümbül, who most recently served as head of acquisitions and film investments for Kanal D.
Medyapim’s slate includes the drama Anne (Star TV), while Ay Yapim is behind Ezel (left; ATV) and Forbidden Love (Kanal D).
Both companies have a combined annual output of 400 hours.
MADD is to explore co-production opportunities for Turkish drama.
