Propagate, Antenna Group link for formats
US indie studio Propagate and Greek broadcaster Antenna Group are teaming up for original formats and content.
The businesses have struck a partnership to develop, produce and distribute original formats and content.
Two original series are currently in development and will air in 2019.
The first production is a local version of the Propagate game show format Wham-O’s Slip ‘N Slide for Ant1 TV.
The format features six rounds of competition where players attempt to perform seemingly simple tasks on the patented Slip ‘N Slide play surface.
Propagate and Ant1 TV will co-produce the series, which will air in 2019. It is produced in partnership with Bruce Kaufman, president of Wood Hollow Pictures.
A second series, My Best Friend’s Fear, will be co-produced with Makedonia TV in Greece.
The hidden camera prank show finds an unsuspecting individual set up by their best friend for a custom-made and unforgettable prank.
Propagate’s partnership with Antenna Group – whose portfolio includes a number of free-to-air and pay-TV channels across Europe – follows a recent development and production pact with Daniela Busoli’s Brazil-based production and distribution company Formata Produções.
Founded in 2015 by co-CEOs Ben Silverman and Howard T. Owens, the Los Angeles-based Propagate now has 17 series in production and 40 projects in development at more than 21 networks and streaming services.
Recent projects include The CW’s Charmed reboot and CBS’s Blood & Treasure.
Cyrus Farrokh (pictured, right), president of international at Propagate, said: “We are very pleased to partner with Antenna Group to further expand our global production platform. Antenna Group is the leading broadcaster in southern Europe, and we both believe there is a tremendous opportunity for us to develop original content together that we can distribute worldwide.”
Jonathan Procter, managing director of Antenna Group, added: “We are especially excited about the opportunity to develop and nurture new ideas from our local talent that will be showcased to a worldwide audience.”
