Apple to roll out TV streamer globally

Apple is set to launch its TV streaming service globally in 2019, according to reports.

The tech giant will launch its upcoming TV subscription service in 100 territories, according to The Information.

It will first launch the service in the US in the first half of 2019 and roll it out globally in following months, sources told the publisher.

The service will include original programmes free to Apple device owners and also enable users to sign up for third-party networks, just as Amazon Prime members can do with Amazon Channels.

Apple has invested heavily in creating original titles with some of the world’s most renowned talent. Steven Spielberg, J.J. Abrams and Reese Witherspoon are just some of the talent set to create content for the service.

The tech giant also signed a multi-year deal with Oprah Winfrey to create original programming for the upcoming streamer.

It was revealed yesterday that the tech company will have Steve Carell make his TV comeback in a morning show series that will be produced and starred by Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston. Carell has not made a TV appearance since his time on the comedy hit The Office.
