India’s Zee boards licensing portal TRX
Indian media giant Zee is boarding online licensing platform TRX.
The business is the latest distributor to join the platform, with more than 1,000 hours from Zee’s Global Content Hub syndication division being added to the platform.
Zee titles heading to TRX include popular drama series Kumkum Bhayga (pictured), Razia, lifestyle program Altar’d & The Big Fat Truth and the recent 4K factual blue-chip documentary The Life Of Earth From Space, a Talesmith production for the Smithsonian Channel and Zee.
TRX now has more than 1,000 registered buyers and more than 70,000 hours of content. Over 100 distributors have signed up to the platform.
The platform – which recently shifted to a subscription model as opposed to a transaction-based service – has secured more than US$15m from investors including Sky Ventures, the Channel 4 Growth Fund and Edge Investments.
Sunita Uchil, chief business officer of international ad sales for global syndication and production, said: “Global Content Hub by Zee has amongst the world’s largest content portfolios with over 260,000 hours, in a variety of genres. We are pleased to partner with TRX to share some of our best shows on their platform and are confident that their viewers will enjoy Zee’s premium programming.”
TRX CEO Matthew Frank said, “We are always looking to expand and diversify the offering to buyers on TRX so it becomes a truly global market place. Zee TV’s catalogue is one of the biggest and best in Asia and we hugely value their support on the TRX platform.”
