Game of Thrones final season set for April premiere

The eighth and final season of HBO hit Game of Thrones (GOT) is set for an April 2019 premiere.

The news arrived from a HBO promo video launched today (13 November), but does not specify the exact day in April which it lands.

HBO’s flagship show won multiple Emmy awards this year and its season end will leave a major gap in the network’s catalogue.

The network has already taken steps to satisfy fans of the show by developing multiple titles in the GOT universe. Most recently, it ordered a pilot written by Jane Goldman based thousands of years before the original title began.

HBO’s clip revisits the many conflicts fans have witnessed throughout the seven seasons and teases a final confrontation with the White Walkers.
