All3Media Int’l sells Guy Martin into LatAm
All3Media International has struck a package deal with Discovery’s Turbo channel in LatAm.
The automotive-focused channel has acquired a number of titles fronted by motorcycle racer and mechanic-turned-TV presenter Guy Martin, and produced by North One Television.
Turbo LatAm has also picked up the latest series of motoring magazine series Fifth Gear, which is now in its 27th series.
The titles covered in the deal include three series of Speed With Guy Martin (11 x 60 minutes), following Martin as he pushes the boundaries of the science of speed, alongside Speed with Guy Martin: F1 Special (60 minutes), which sees the presenter go head-to-head with Formula One legend David Coulthard in various challenges.
Also included is Guy Martin: Spitfire Restoration (90 minutes), in which Martin restores one of the world’s most iconic fighter planes; Guy Martin vs The Robot Car (60 minutes), where Martin investigates autonomous vehicles as he attempts to build a robotic Ford Transit and become the first person to take on an artificially intelligent race car; and Guy Martin: The World’s Fastest Van? (90 minutes), which sees Martin looking to make his favourite Transit van the fastest van on the planet.
Also included in the deal is 5 x 60-minute fact ent series Escape. Produced by Maverick Television for UK broadcaster Channel 4, the show sees a group of highly skilled engineers put into a catastrophic scene – based on real-life events – in the midst of a hostile environment and left to find a way to escape.
Janel Downing, VP of Latin America for All3Media International, said: “It’s great to see Discovery’s Turbo channel really embracing Guy Martin as a key brand in their acquisitions slate – we know this star engineer, racing driver and speed demon will deliver for their viewers.
“Particularly exciting is the acquisition of Guy’s F1 Special – a unique look at a sport much appreciated in the region, with F1 circuits in Brazil and Mexico, and of course the legend of Ayrton Senna, whose heroic status reaches far beyond Brazil’s borders. The ever-expanding Guy Martin slate from North One Television has already proved successful through global deals with Discovery, so we’re delighted to see this now extend to our first volume regional acquisition from Turbo.”
