NBCU serves Top Chef spin-off in Thailand
NBCUniversal International Formats has sold Top Chef spin-off Just Desserts into Thailand.
The One Enterprise is to produce a local version of the 11-part spin-off, which is to air on Thai entertainment channel One31.
The show will see top pastry chefs in the country show off their professional skills and go head-to-head in a series of challenges.
The deal follows One31’s renewal of Top Chef for a third series (13 x 60 minutes), which will also be produced by The One Enterprise.
Elsewhere, NBCU International Formats has also struck a deal with The One Enterprise for a second series of dance competition series World of Dance.
Originally produced by Universal Television Alternative Studios in association with Jennifer Lopez’s Nuyorican Productions and global dance brand World of Dance in the US, World of Dance brings together the world’s elite dancers. The show has so far been localised in Poland and the Philippines.
The Thai version of World of Dance launched on One31 last summer and the winners of the show, DD Flection, are set to represent Thailand on the third series of the US version, which launches this week on NBC.
Ana Langenberg, SVP of format sales and production for NBCUniversal International Formats, said: “Top Chef remains as one of our most successful franchises to date, so to bring a third season and a Just Desserts spin-off to local audiences is truly exciting.
“To add to that, we are also excited for another season of World of Dance within the territory. The One Enterprise and One31 generated a local version that boasts high-quality production standards and excellent on-screen talent, so we are proud to see the remake prove so popular and successful.”
