The Royal Television Society reveals nominees for its Programme Awards 2019

The list of nominees for the 2019 Royal Television Society (RTS) Programme Awards has been revealed with Killing Eve, Blue Planet II and Grenfell up for top honours.

The RTS Programme Awards seek to recognise programmes which, in the year in question, have made a material and positive contribution to their genre: either because their originality in form or content has in some way moved the genre on, or perhaps created a new genre; or because their quality has set standards which other programme-makers can learn from and emulate.

Nominees for Drama Series include Sid Gentle Films’ Killing Eve, Caryn Mandabach Productions and Tiger Aspect’s Peaky Blinders and World Productions Save Me.

Killing Eve actors Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh are also up for Best Actor (Female), alongside Black Earth Rising’s Michaela Cole.

Nominees for Best Actor (Male) include Ben Whishaw for A Very English Scandal, Lucian Msamati for Kiri and Lennie James for Save Me.

In the factual genre, nominees for Best Single Documentary include Minnow Films Grenfell, Brinkworth Films Married to a Paedophile and Lambent Productions’ Raped: My Story.

Meanwhile, nominees for Best Science and Natural History title include BBC Studios’ Blue Planet II, Raw TV’s Drowning in Plastic and Tern Television’s The Secret Life of Landfill: A Rubbish Story.

Winners will be announced at the Royal Television Society Programme Award’s Ceremony, hosted by Shappi Khorsandi, on Tuesday 19 March at The Grosvenor Hotel, London, UK.
