Cannes Series winners revealed
The winners for the second edition of Cannes Series Awards have been revealed, with Beta Film’s Spanish dramedy Perfect Life winning top honours.
The female-focused title created by Leticia Dolera, from Movistar+, took home the Best Series award.
Perfect Life’s three female leads Dolera, Celia Freijeiro and Aixa Villagrán also took home the Special Performance Prize.
Beta Film’s Christian Gockel, EVP of international operations, told TBI in March that the series has grabbed attention because, “There’s a bunch of dark thrillers out there, so taking something completely different, particularly coming from a platform such as Movistar+, makes this series attractive”.
Best Performance went to Reshef Levi for Israeli series Nehama.
Belgium’s The Twelve (De Twaalf) was awarded for Best Screenplay, while another title from Beta Film’s portfolio Bauhaus – A New Era (Die neue Zeit) took home the award for Best Music.
For the short form competition award, judged by Greg Garcia, Josefine Frida Pettersen and Fanny Sidney, Australia’s Over and Out took the Best Short Form Series prize.
The Cannes Series competition jury was headed up by Baran bo Odar, who was joined by jury members Miriam Leone, Emma Mackey, and Rob and Kathryn Winnick.
