Facebook’s European content exec Patrick Walker to step down
Facebook’s director of media partnerships in Europe is leaving the social media giant after three years in the role.
Patrick Walker was tasked with expanding the company’s content strategy across EMEA, including overseeing the expansion of Facebook Watch, which launched last year.
The exec, whose exit was first reported by US trade Deadline, joined Facebook from Brave Bison (previously known as Rightster) and before that had worked for YouTube, where he had overseen content partnerships across EMEA.
Facebook’s originals include shows such as Ball In The Family and Humans Of New York, while its European partnerships have included non-US weekly news program, Cut Through The Noise – a partnership with BBC News, and 5 x 6-minute acquisition Troy The Magician from the UK’s Zig Zag Productions.
Last year Walker told TBI the social media giant was looking to ramp up its search for formats that could “game-ify” content and leverage Facebook’s interactivity across Europe.
