Renowned Films partners with The Story Lab for entertainment
Game of Clones distributor The Story Lab has struck a development deal with London- and LA-based producer Renowned Films, with the first project already on the slate.
The deal will see the companies develop and co-create factual entertainment content for global audiences across platforms and brands, with a focus on returnable entertainment and factual series.
The first show to emerge is factual entertainment series You Are Not A Loan, in which a town’s collective debt is pooled for the greater good. Filmed over the course of a year, the series charts the highs and lows of 30 people from a single postcode who band together to tackle their debt.
It has been co-created and developed by The Story Lab and Renowned Films, with the latter producing in the UK and other international markets. The Story Lab, which is also behind formats including Ninja Warrior and No Sleep No FOMO, will handle global rights and brand partnerships although no broadcaster/streamer details have yet been announced.
Max Welch, Renowned Films’s CEO, said working with The Story Lab would given his company “the keys to develop even bigger, broader, bolder mega formats for the international market.”
Fotini Paraskakis, exec VP of The Story Lab Global, said: “Renowned Films has a strong reputation in creating disruptive and thought-provoking entertainment content with a fresh perspective, fitting perfectly with The Story Lab’s own ambitions.
“We truly believe this creative collaboration will be key to producing the next wave of innovative global content.”
Earlier this year The Story Lab partnered with David Flynn and Lucas Church’s Youngest Media on formats joint venture Youngest Labs, which aims to create global formats and digital-first content. It is backed by The Story Lab’s ad group parent company Dentsu Aegis Network.
