Channel 4 reveals UK regions commissioning team

UK broadcaster Channel 4 has unveiled commissioning editors for its new headquarters in Leeds, as well as those heading up regional offices in Bristol and Glasgow.

Producer Sacha Mirzoeff will head up the Bristol hub and has also been appointed factual commissioning editor for the new office, while former drama commissioner at Welsh network S4C Gwawr Martha Lloyd will oversee scripted.

True North exec producer Will Rowson becomes commissioning editor for factual in Leeds, while producer Harjeet Chhokar heads up factual.

C4’s former nations and regions manager Deborah Dunnett takes the commissioning editor role for popular factual, based out of Glasgow.

The appointments come eight months after C4 named Leeds as its national headquarters, marking the biggest structural change in the organisation’s 35-year history.

The move will see a significant increase in the broadcaster’s Nations and Regions content spend – from 35% to 50% of main channel UK commissions by 2023, which is worth up to £250m ($305m) more in total.

Numerous other regional vacancies are being advertised including social video director and digital producer roles for the broadcaster, which is headed up by chief exec Alex Mahon (pictured).

Overall, the new locations will support up to 3,000 production jobs in the Nations and Regions. The new national HQ – which will sit alongside a London base that will remain – and creative hubs will be home to 300 C4 jobs.

Around 200 members of staff will move to Leeds, where MPs have called for further investment to support the infrastructure around C4.
