Kids bulletin: Cinekids selects in-development slate; DQE’s ‘Psammy Show’ heads to China
Cinekid has selected a slate of in-development projects for the October festival.
Around 19 children’s film and TV projects as well as six works-in-progress are heading to the Junior Co-production Market, which runs as part of Cinekid for Professionals (CfP) – the industry component of Cinekid, one of the largest children’s media festivals in the world. The event runs from 21-23 October in Amsterdam.
The projects will be presented to more than 300 international professionals from the children’s media industry to encourage international cooperation and to get these projects into production.
The selection includes both live-action and animation projects by children’s media companies, including 10th Ave Production, Lunanime, Nutprodukce, PinGuim Content, Snowcloud, Submarine and Volya Films. For a complete list of projects, click here.
‘The Psammy Show’ heads to China
Chinese national broadcaster CCTV’s kids channel, CCTV-14, has picked up Indian prodco DQ Entertainment’s CGI series The Psammy Show (52 x 11 minutes) – a co-production between Disney Germany and Method Animation France.
The show follows the adventures of five kids as they befriend a fairy who grants them wishes – each of which have unintended consequences.
The pact marks the first Chinese deal for the series, which first launched on the Disney Channel in Germany in 2018. It was later scooped up by Disney Channel in France and Israel’s SH.
DQ Entertainment struck an agreement with Chinese distributor Cawro.
