Fred Media hires TCB’s Mem Bakar as European sales boss
TCB Media Rights exec Mem Bakar has landed at Australian distributor Fred Media.
Bakar is to head the European sales office for Fred – the commercial arm of Australian Bondi Vet and Vet On The Hill prodco WTFN Entertainment – out of London. She replaces long-time Fred and WTFN exec Sally Cronin, who first joined the business in 2010.
Bakar occupied a number of senior sales roles at TCB Media Rights, where she worked for five years. She was most recently senior sales manager for Asia, Nordics and the UK, having previously overseen Asia, Iberia and Latin America.
Prior to TCB Media Rights, Bakar worked in sales for the Global Agency-owned World Wide Entertainment, where she worked alongside Fred chief operating officer Roger Vanderspikken.
Vanderspikken said: “I know Mem is a great asset for the Fred team. She has extensive experience working in many territories, and has spent the past eight years working in Europe. That experience and her contacts will be invaluable as our catalogue of premium factual and lifestyle content grows.”
Bakar added: “What is exciting about my new role is the opportunity to not only sell great programmes, but to work with the WTFN development team and my broadcast clients to get new programmes off the ground. The WTFN development catalogue is extensive and I think there’s a lot of scope to collaborate with broadcasters.”
Fred is to bring more than 25 new shows to next month’s MIPCOM market in Cannes, including WTFN’s new hospital ob-doc Emergency and a raft of long-form lifestyle series from US producer Tastemade.
