Sales round-up: Hat Trick’s Morgan-Ronaldo interview goes global; Red Arrow’s French ‘Departure’
Hat Trick goes global for Piers Morgan interview with Cristiano Ronaldo
Hat Trick International has secured a slate of global sales for ITV’s anticipated interview event Cristiano Ronaldo Meets Piers Morgan (1 x 60 minutes).
Plum Pictures’ special for ITV1 has sold into RTP1 (Portugal), #Vamos de Movistar+ (Spain), TV2 (Denmark), Channel 2 (Iceland), MTV (Finland), TV2 (Norway), TV4 (Sweden), Medialaan (Belgium), BNNVARA (Holland), Manoto (Iran) and Virgin Media Television (Ireland).
Filmed earlier this month, the interview marks the first major sit-down event for the Portuguese footballer. Morgan talks to Ronaldo about his life, upbringing in Madeira, notorious rivalry with Lionel Messi and the headline-grabbing rape allegation against him, which was reopened last October.
Sarah Tong, director of sales for Hat Trick International, said: “Cristiano Ronaldo is arguably one of the most famous footballers of our time. Therefore, it is no surprise that his frank and emotional exclusive interview with well-known UK broadcaster Piers Morgan is a hot property.”
Red Arrow sends ‘Bad Mothers’, ‘Departure’ to France
Red Arrow Studios International has sold dramas Bad Mothers and Departure into France’s M6 Group. Bad Mothers will air on Téva while Departure is to TX on W9 and 6TER.
Produced by Jungle Entertainment and Filthy Productions for Nine Network (Australia) and TVNZ (New Zealand), Bad Mothers follows a group of modern women juggling life’s big issues: love, family, careers, infidelity – and murder.
Meanwhile, Departure is centred around the shock disappearance of Flight 716 and stars Emmy Award-winning Archie Panjabi and Academy Award winner Christopher Plummer. The series is produced by Shaftesbury and Greenpoint Productions in association with Corus Entertainment for Global (Canada).
Bad Mothers has been sold to territories including the UK, Middle East and Africa, while sales of Departure include to broadcasters in the UK, Germany, Spain and Poland, among others.
The deals were concluded by Tobias Schulze, VP Sales for France and German-speaking territories at Red Arrow Studios International.
Bo Stehmeier, president of Red Arrow Studios International, said: “With Departure’s fast-paced storyline and top-class cast, and Bad Mothers’ amusing exploration of the joys and perils of modern motherhood, we’re confident both series will resonate with audiences in France.”
