HBO Max sets out non-fiction originals team
HBO Max has bolstered its original non-fiction team with execs from CNN, Karga Seven and Pulse Creative.
The service has hired Lizzie Fox as SVP of non-fiction programming, while Rebecca Quinn has been made VP of non-fiction original programming.
Both execs will report into former Lionsgate exec Jennifer O’Connell, who joined as EVP of original non-fiction and kids at HBO Max earlier this summer.
Meanwhile, Brett Boydstun has been appointed SVP of non-fiction production, reporting into HBO Max production SVP Mark Weissman.
The team will be charged with non-fiction originals for the new streamer, which is to launch next year.
HBO Max made its first unscripted orders last week, handing 10-part straight-to-series orders to Legendary and The Greatest Space.
Fox was previously VP of original series at CNN, where her credits include Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown, United Shades Of America With W. Kamau Bell and This Is Life With Lisa Ling.
Quinn was previously at Matt Kunitz’s Pulse Creative, where she was head of development. Her EP credits include Kicking And Screaming, Candy Crush and Kevin Hart: What The Fit.
Finally, Boydstun was formerly EVP and head of production for Karga Seven Pictures, where his credits include JFK: Declassified, Hunting Hitler and The Hunt For The Zodiak Killer.
Kevin Reilly, chief content officer for HBO Max, said: “Non-fiction storytelling will be a crucial component to HBO Max and we now have the leadership and team in place to bring the best this genre has to offer to our offering.”
