FilmRise names BBC Studios exec for global acquisitions
US-based film and TV outfit FilmRise has appointed BBC Studios exec Whitney Muroff as its director of global acquisitions.
Muroff will be responsible for developing new multi-territory film and television acquisition opportunities and will also work with existing partners to build FilmRise’s global licensing and distribution business.
She will report to Max Einhorn, head of acquisitions for FilmRise, which has raised more than $110m to fund its acquisition strategy. Titles on its slate include Christopher Nolan-directed Memento and Manifesto.
Einhorn said Muroff’s “impressive track record developing business opportunities and overseeing key content partnerships” would help the company to “build the scale of our content acquisitions activities and make FilmRise’s footprint global.”
Muroff was most recently manager for factual sales and co-productions at BBC Studios and before that had been a sales exec for the commercial arm of the UK public broadcaster, working across unscripted programming.
