Damian Lewis-fronted ‘Spy Wars’ secures global sales
Broadcasters including History and Blaze in the UK and Spain’s Atresmedia are among numerous buyers to have snapped up A+E Networks factual series Damian Lewis: Spy Wars.
The show, produced by Alaska TV in association with Lewis’ recently launched outfit Rookery Productions, features Homeland and Billions star Lewis as he uncovers an array of covert missions in modern-day history with the help of new declassified information, high-profile experts and intelligence officers who took part.
It has also been acquired by Blue Ant in Canada, POP TV in Slovenia, Bilibil.com in China, TVNZ in New Zealand and Historia in Spain, while Smithsonian Channel in the US has already confirmed it will air the docudrama Stateside.
The show explores the devious techniques and undercover missions undertaken by agents, including how a fake film was produced to free Americans during the 1979 Iranian hostage crisis.
