BBC Studios’ Hilary Salmon to launch prodco with Nick Betts and Radford Neville

BBC Studios drama veteran Hilary Salmon is leaving the organisation to launch a new production outfit with colleagues Nick Betts and Radford Neville.

Salmon was most recently head of BBCS, working on shows including Luther and Richard Gere’s MotherFatherSon, while Neville joined BBCS as head of production for drama series and serials in 2017. He previously worked at The Crown prodco Left Bank Pictures and on shows including Ashes To Ashes.

The duo will leave BBCS at the end of the year, joining the organisation’s former scripted MD Betts who revealed he was leaving the organisation last year.

All three have now jointly launched The Lighthouse, which will focus on scripted projects for UK and international broadcasters and streamers.

It marks the end of a 20-year career at the BBC for Salmon, whose output included Idris Elba-starring drama Luther, Undercover and Criminal Justice among numerous others.

News of her departure comes ahead of the arrival of Priscilla Parish, the former Bodyguard producer at World Productions, who is set to start as head of drama for BBCS Production in November.

Parish will report to director of content Ralph Lee and will be responsible for the creative strategy and development for BBCS drama series and serials, daytime drama and factual drama.
