Endemol Shine’s ‘MasterChef’ returns to India
MasterChef is returning to Indian screens for a sixth season.
Star India-owned pay-TV channel Star Plus has ordered a 26 x 60-minute run of the popular cooking format, in addition to 12 masterclass episodes, from Endemol Shine India.
The judging line-up for MasterChef India – which previously aired for five seasons on Star Plus – features award-winning chefs such as Vikas Khanna, Ranveer Brar and India’s first Michelin star winner Vineet Bhatia.
Around 53 productions of MasterChef are in the works across 35 markets, while the show recently marked its 10th anniversary and 200th episode in the UK.
Recent and forthcoming credits for Endemol Shine India include Hindi-language Netflix drama Bombay Begums as well as Colors TV’s long-running reality game show Big Boss, which is produced in six different regional languages annually.
Abhishek Rege, CEO of Endemol Shine India, said: “MasterChef is the world’s most popular cookery show and we are thrilled that India will once again be part of the success story after a three-year break.
“The culinary culture in India is renowned worldwide for its treasure trove of spices and flavours and with an impressive line-up of judges and casting for contestants underway, we firmly believe the show has all the right ingredients to be a sure-fire hit for Star Plus.”
