Hulu orders Vice News series, unveils monthly scheduling plans

US streamer Hulu has ordered a 10-part series exploring issues around global culture and politics from youth-skewing outfit Vice.

Vice Investigates is being exec produced by Subrata De and produced by Vice News, with the company’s correspondents exploring subjects such as the geopolitical divide between Iran and Saudi Arabia, and the human side of K-Pop rockstars.

Hulu will make the first three shows available all at once from Friday, November 1, before dropping subsequent episodes on a monthly basis from December.

The show joins Hulu’s growing offering of news and cultural content, joining series such as The Weekly from The New York Times, and documentaries such as Minding The Gap and The Amazing Johnathan Documentary.

The youth-skewing company, which is headed up by former A+E Networks exec Nancy Dubuc, has been restructuring its business over recent months, laying off staff and acquiring companies such as female-skewing digital publisher Refinery29.

Vice lost one of its signature shows on HBO, Vice News Tonight, earlier this year but the programme recently found a new home on Showtime.
