DR opens ‘Old People’s Home For 4 Year Olds’ in Denmark
Danish pubcaster DR has ordered a local version of a UK format that sees senior residents of a care home brought together with four-year-olds for six weeks.
The local version of Old People’s Home For 4 Year Olds will be produced by Danish firm Snowman Productions, which was previously behind the original Married At First Sight format. Production on the show has been completed, with the four-episode show set to debut on DR1 on 6 November.
Old People’s Home For 4 Year Olds was created and produced by CPL Productions for Channel 4 in the UK and is distributed by Red Arrow Studios International, the sales arm of Snowman parent company Red Arrow Studios.
Local versions have been commissioned in countries including Spain (Movistar+), the Netherlands (Max), Israel (KAN), Australia (ABC) and Germany (Vox). New deals revealed recently include France (Canal+), Sweden (TV4) and Portugal (RTP).
Michael von Würden, MD of Snowman, said: “We are delighted to be producing Old People’s Home For 4 Year Olds for DR. They have become trusted partners through our work together on Married At First Sight, and with this commission are once again proving their commitment to bringing innovative, life-changing and important social experiment formats to Danish audiences.”
Last month, Snowman Productions launched global development label Snowman Global, which will work with broadcasters and production companies around the world to develop new formats. It will also assist Red Arrow Studios International in retaining rights to global format IP and is looking for production partners in selected territories.
