Amazon orders fourth and final season of ‘Goliath’

Amazon is bringing the curtain down on its Billy Bob Thornton-fronted legal drama Goliath.

The streamer has ordered a fourth and final season of the show, which launched its third run early last month.

The show was developed by former Amazon Studios chief Roy Price and was created by David E Kelley and Jonathan Shapiro. It follows different cases handled by a hard-living lawyer named Billy McBride, played by Thornton.

Goliath, which Amazon said has been among its most popular scripted originals, had Lawrence Trilling attached as showrunner since season two. He also exec produced.

Trilling said: “I’m thrilled we get another season to tell Billy McBride’s story. Our latest case tackles a timely global crisis that impacts an entire generation, and we will be adding some exceptional talent to our already amazing cast.”

Amazon, whose studio division is now headed up by Jennifer Salke, has been bringing many shows from its early batch of originals ordered by Price to an end, including series such as The Man In The High Castle and Transparent.
