A+E’s ‘Miss Scarlet And The Duke’ heads to the US, Canada, Australia

Miss Scarlet And The Duke

US broadcaster PBS, Seven Network in Australia and CBC in Canada are among broadcasters to have picked up 19th Century crime drama, Miss Scarlet And The Duke.

The show marked A+E Networks International’s first scripted co-production and was created by Grantchester writer Rachael New, who was attached as showrunner to the 6 x 60-minute first season. The show has been produced in Dublin, with Declan O’Dwyer directing.

A+E International and Element 8 Entertainment co-produced the series with The Crown’s Kate Phillips starring as detective Eliza Scarlet, who inherits her father’s private detective agency and partners with detective inspector William Willington of Scotland Yard to solve crimes in 1880s London.

PBS will air the show in 2020 in its Masterpiece strand, while the series has also sold to UKTV for its Alibi channel, Yandex in Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Lightbox in New Zealand, RTL Germany and OTE Cosmote TV in Greece.

“It is also extremely gratifying that our co-pro division has taken flight in a such short time with this series and a number of other scripted and unscripted projects already in the works.”

In October, Richard Tulk-Hart stepped down from his role as A+E Networks MD of international distribution, formats and co-productions to join Marcella producer Buccaneer Media.
