MediaXchange partners with John Yorke for online workshops
International entertainment industry consultancy MediaXchange has partnered with John Yorke (Life On Mars) to launch a new series of interactive, virtual workshops to help writers, producers and executives develop their skills while in isolation due to the Covid-19 crisis.
The courses are being led by “best in class experts” and delivered as interactive live workshops, which can be booked online.
Sessions include two storytelling workshops – one for writers and one for executives – with drama producer, commissioner, author, consultant and lecturer Yorke (Shameless, Wolf Hall). They will run from May to June.
The ‘Meet the Creatives’ strand will feature one session per week, each featuring a US showrunner and running July to August, while a seminar on the international film business with EP and author, Angus Finney (The Mother, Candy, Disco Pigs) is also planned. The masterclass will address the development, production, and financing of international feature films and takes place in May.
Elsewhere, there will be a workshop on streaming platforms, giving participants key insights to “navigate the opportunities offered by SVOD, AVOD, BVOD and TVOD to better understand your options in the UK landscape” – running June to July.
MediaXchange CEO Katrina Wood said: “Our mission has always been to connect the entertainment industry’s most talented professionals to share skills and experience while building lasting partnerships.
“We welcome moving into a new phase with an additional range of online courses and workshops which will continue to support creatives and executives to further their international ambitions in the service of great storytelling for film and TV.”
