Sagafilm’s ‘The Minister’ gets ‘e-premiere’ for buyers
The Minister, a new Icelandic political drama from Reykjavík-based prodco Sagafilm, is to receive an exclusive online premiere for buyers, courtesy of distributors Cineflix Rights.
The 8 x 60-minute series was produced by Sagafilm for RUV in Iceland, DR in Denmark, NRK in Norway, SVT in Sweden and YLE Finland. It stars Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald, True Detective) as a populist prime minister with a worsening mental health condition that threatens the stability of the government and the lives of those around him.
The ‘e-premiere’ will feature Ólafsson in conversation with series writer Jónas Margeir Ingólfsson and director Nanna Kristín Magnúsdóttir, followed by a 15-minute preview from the first episode. It comes in lieu of its planned launch at the cancelled Series Mania as an International Panorama World Premiere.
Julien Leroux, the executive overseeing the series for Cineflix Rights said: “We’ve moved quickly to provide an alternative and innovative opportunity for buyers to see Ólafur, Nanna, and Jónas talk about how they created and produced this gripping series, in an intimate online conversation.
“Buyers will also be able to see clips from the series including a 15-minute preview of the first episode. As we adapt to the changing circumstances, this is an exciting new way for us to launch what will be one of the most talked about political dramas of the year.”
