News round-up: Love Nature unveils blue chip duo; BET+ visits eOne’s Diggstown
Love Nature greenlights blue chip duo
Blue Ant Media’s Love Nature 4K has greenlit two six-part, blue-chip specialist factual series from sibling producers for its linear and online channels.
A Wild Year On Earth, produced by Blue Ant Studios’ Northern Pictures and narrated by actor Laura Carmichael (Downton Abbey), is an epic look at how our planet’s most spectacular natural events interconnect with all life on earth over the course of a turbulent year.
Dawn To Dusk is being produced by fellow Blue Ant outfit NHNZ and examines the intricate daily life cycles of fascinating creatures as they unfold all over the world. Blue Ant International will oversee the licensing of both series, which are now available for pre-sale.
“A Wild Year On Earth and Dawn To Dusk offer multifaceted perspectives of nature, and its inhabitants, around the world,” said Carlyn Staudt, EVP of programming & development, Love Nature 4K. “These two commissions truly connect with our mission at Love Nature to deliver powerful wildlife and nature stories that give audiences a deeper understanding of our planet.”
Love Nature 4K is now in more than 150 million homes worldwide on traditional pay-TV platforms such as Sky, Rogers and Startimes, as well as streaming outlets including Amazon Channels, Bilibili, Apple Plus and Pluto TV.
“These stunning blue-chip natural history titles, which are delivering in September of this year, are already attracting widespread interest from key U.S. commissioners and we’re looking forward to making them available to additional broadcasters worldwide,” said Ludo Dufour, SVP of international co-productions and sales at Blue Ant International.

ViacomCBS-owned US streamer BET+ has added procedural drama Diggstown from Hasbro’s EntertainmentOne to its roster.
The six-part series is set in Canadian province Nova Scotia and follows a star corporate lawyer who, after her beloved aunt commits suicide following a malicious prosecution, decides to reconsider her priorities.
The show has been created by Floyd Kane (Across The Line) and is co-produced by Circle Blue Entertainment and Freddie Films. Kane is creator, executive producer and showrunner, and Amos Adetuyi (Jean Of The Jones), Brenda Greenberg (Being Erica) and Todd Berger (Wynonna Earp) are executive producers.
The show has been produced in association with Canadian broadcaster CBC and premiered yesterday on BET+, which is a joint venture between BET Networks and Tyler Perry Studios. eOne handles global sales of Diggstown.
