Hulu picks up UK coming-of-age comedy ‘In My Skin’
US streamer Hulu has acquired UK prodco Expectation’s dark coming-of-age comedy In My Skin.
The five-part series, which is distributed by BBC Studios and is currently airing on BBC Three and BBC Wales in the UK, with the finale episode due to air tonight – 29 April. It will premiere on Hulu on 4 June.
Gabrielle Creevy stars as a Welsh teenager navigating a double life as she tries to keep her tumultuous personal life – including a sectioned mother and alcoholic Hell’s Angel father – a secret from her friends.
Writer Kayleigh Llewellyn, said: “We were blown away by the response to the pilot episode, which won two Bafta Cymru Awards. And now to have such a brilliant reception for the series is just incredible. I’m eternally grateful to the people both on and off the camera who have poured so much love and care into this show.”
Nerys Evans, creative director for comedy at Expectation, said: “I’m so excited that In My Skin will be launching on Hulu in the US and that viewers there will be able to relive their adolescence through Bethan – and through Kayleigh’s fantastic writing.
