Germany’s ProSieben wants to ‘Watch!’ Media Ranch format
German network ProSieben has ordered a local edition of Canadian outfit Media Ranch’s game show format Watch! to be produced by Talpa Germany for broadcast next month.
The German edition of Watch! will be titled Wer sieht das den?! and will feature two celebrities per team who will play for charity, pitting the two teams against one another, and testing their memory skills after witnessing a live variety act.
It will be hosted by German comedian and actor Ruth Moschner, who has also been a judge of shows including Germany’s Got Talent and the German version of The Masked Singer, and air on ProSieben on 21 July.
Three 105-minute episodes are being shot this month, with Media Ranch developing a “quick turnaround format” for the production.
The Watch! format was created by Mark Burnett alums, producers Dan Munday and John Kirhoffer, and has sold into territories across the world – including to Bunim/Murray Productions for the US, RDF/Fizz (Banijay) for the UK and to ITV Studios for Sweden.
Media Ranch CEO Sophie Ferron said: “We are beyond thrilled that the first production our hottest format ever, Watch! will be completed and on air this summer on ProSieben, especially with the Covid-19 crisis. Watch! has sold extremely well, 12 major territories in just a few months. It is such a fun show and viewers are craving great new programming this summer.”
Media ranch recently acquired two new unscripted formats from Ireland’s Adare Productions, and brought on consultants Rod Rodrigo and Owen Kelly to ramp up its business in the UK and English-speaking Canada.
