Edinburgh TV Festival lines up Emilia Clarke & Paul Feig
The Edinburgh TV Festival (ETF) has unveiled a raft of new speakers and sessions for its 2020 line-up, including Game Of Thrones star Emilia Clarke in conversation with filmmaker Paul Feig.
The sessions will take place online in August and will look to dissect the TV industry and debate the challenges facing producers in the current climate.
Clarke will talk with Feig, who last year directed her in the movie Last Christmas, for a peer-to-peer session that will take in their careers.
It will explore her worldwide fame in HBO’s Game Of Thrones and his work as a writer, producer and director on some of Hollywood’s biggest female-driven box office hits including Bridesmaids and Spy, as well as numerous TV shows including HBO Max drama Love Life.
Europe’s public broadcasters will also be providing their opinions on the challenges and opportunities ahead, with a panel consisting of France Télévisions CEO Delphine Ernotte, director general at Norway’s NRK, Thor Gjermund Eriksen, and Ulrich Wilhelm, chairman at Germany’s ARD.
The team behind Sky original Gangs Of London will also discuss the show’s success, with stars Ṣọpẹ Dìrísù and Pippa Bennett-Warner joining creator/director Gareth Evans, writer Lauren Sequiera and Pulse Films executive producer, Thomas Benski, to discuss the challenges and opportunities for storytelling on TV versus film.
ETF revealed plans to become a digital-only event in April as a result of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and has already held a raft of ‘Controllers’ sessions.
