Rai & Mediaset in Italy snag raft of factual deals with distributor TVF
Italian pubcaster Rai and commercial rival Mediaset have struck deals for a raft of programming from UK-based factual distributor TVF International.
Rai 1 has picked up rights to two NHK-commissioned specials, with aerial show Flying China’s Stone Forest and Underwater Universe: The Orda Cave, as well as The Tipping Points, a six-parter originally commissioned by The Weather Channel, Arte and WDR that explores the latest issues and solutions to the world’s climate crisis.
Rai 3 acquisitions include two episodes from CICC-commission China Wild, which showcases the array of wildlife found across the country’s five major habitats, while its ‘Kilimangiaro’ travel slot has added TVF and Tokyo Vision co-production Japan From Above and Lona Media’s Arte-commission Magnificent Megacities: Jakarta.
Mediaset, meanwhile, have added a selection of space titles including National Geographic-commissioned Eclipse Chasers and The Man Who Shot Tutankhamun, the latter produced by Wavelength Films for the
BBC. The deals were brokered by senior sales executive Oliver Clayton.
