‘Fresh Prince’ cast to reunite for unscripted HBO Max special
HBO Max is reuniting the cast of 1990s sitcom The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air to celebrate the show’s 30th anniversary.
Series stars Will Smith, Tatyana Ali, Karyn Parsons, Joseph Marcell, Daphne Maxwell Reid, Alfonso Ribeiro and DJ Jazzy Jeff will all return for the unscripted reunion special, which is set to premiere on the streamer in November.
Marcus Raboy is attached to direct the special, while Rikki Hughes will serve as showrunner and executive produce alongside Miguel Melendez, Lukas Kaiser and Brad Haugen,
The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air ran on NBC from 1990 to 1996 and helped to launch Will Smith to stardom. It followed Smith as he moved from the tough streets of West Philadelphia to live with his wealthy uncle and aunt in their Bel Air mansion after getting into trouble in his hometown.
Earlier this month, it was announced that the series is to get a dramatic reboot, based on Morgan Cooper’s popular viral video and with original star Will Smith attached to executive produce.
HBO Max is the current streaming home to all episodes of the original series.
