MBC brings ‘The Bridge’ and ‘Crimson Rivers’ to Middle East
Dubai-based MBC Group has acquired first-run broadcast rights to all seasons of two drama series – The Bridge (aka Bron or Broen) and The Crimson Rivers – for its OTT platform in the Middle East, following a deal with ZDF Enterprises.
The original 38 x 60-minute Scandinavian version of global hit The Bridge is produced by Filmlance International and Nimbus Film Produktion in co-production with ZDF Enterprises. It tells the story of a team of inspectors solving crimes that cross a national border and has been remade numerous times, including under the names The Bridge in the US and The Tunnel in the UK.
The 16 x 50-minute The Crimson Rivers, meanwhile, is based on the novel of the same name by Jean-Christophe Grangé. Produced by Storia Television in co-production with Maze Pictures for France Télévisions and ZDF, in co-operation with ZDF Enterprises, the series is set in “a macabre world of gruesome crimes and harrowing rituals.”
It has already sold to Netflix, NBC Universal, Canal+, FTV Prima and others.
Serving the Middle East and North Africa, MBC Group is comprised 20 TV channels, two radio stations and MBC Studios, as well as online platforms Shahid.net and MBC.net.
