Viaplay adapts ‘Two Sisters’ drama from Banijay’s Yellow Bird

Nordic streamer Viaplay has ordered an eight-part drama based on the bestselling novels by Swedish celebrities Hannah Widell and Amanda Schulman, with Banijay’s Yellow Bird producing.

Two Sisters explores the diverging lives of two young Stockholm siblings as they climb the career ladder, fall in love and realise that growing up can also mean growing apart.

It has been created and is being directed by Julia Lindström (Hjerteslag) and written by Amy Black Ndiaye (Wisting), with Yellow Bird’s Alexia Wennberg, Cecilia Forsberg and Georgie Mathew at Yellow Bird producing. Filming started this week in Stockholm.

The show marks the first TV adaptation of Widell and Schulman’s work, who are also behind numerous podcasts and blogs. It will premiere exclusively on the NENT Group-owned streamer in the Nordic and Baltic regions in 2021.

NENT is set to premiere at least 30 original productions this year, with recent launches including season two of Love Me, as well as Catwalk and Valley Girl.
