Gaumont signs ‘La Jauría’ showrunner Lucía Puenzo to multi-year development deal

French studio Gaumont has signed Argentinean Cromo and La Jauría showrunner Lucía Puenzo to a multi-year development deal, with two projects already set.

The first series to come out of the partnership will be Futuro Desierto, a near-future, dystopian thriller centered around a robotics engineer who moves his family to a remote town in Patagonia, where he is tasked with secretly testing the first humanoid robots.

Puenzo will be co-showrunner alongside Nicolás Puenzo (co-director of La Jauría), with both to direct multiple episodes throughout the series.

The second project is currently titled This Is Not A Love Song and tells the story of the real-life Tina Modotti, an eccentric Italian feminist photographer, model, actress and revolutionary political activist who rubbed elbows with some of Latin America’s greatest luminaries and artists from the 20^th century.

Puenzo will once again serve as showrunner and direct the series. Lucas Akoskin (On the Milky Road) and Leonor Varela (Alpha) are attached to executive produce, with Varela starring as Tina Modotti.
