SBS cooks up Story Lab’s socially-distanced format ‘All Together At The Table’

SBS in Belgium has ordered a local version of remotely filmed cooking class format All Together At The Table.

The format was created in March by France’s Kitchen Factory Production, which has now been behind almost 100 episodes across two seasons for M6, with another run in the works. It was launched to international buyers at MIPCOM by The Story Lab, which acquired distribution rights in July.

The Belgian version is being produced locally by SBS and launches on 11 November, with Belgian celebrity chef Dominique Persoone and comedian, Jani Kazaltzis, attached.

In each episode, a celebrity chef must work against the clock to cook up a menu for four people composed of a starter and a main course, or a main course and a dessert.

Before going to air, the chef reveals the menu and the necessary ingredients via their and the broadcaster’s social media networks, so that viewers can follow the recipe and cook in real time during the live show. Every evening, the host chef is joined remotely by a co-host of the show, a surprise celebrity guest and three families from different parts of the country as they cook together.

Annick Bongers, programme director at SBS, said: “As we enter a challenging new phase of lockdown in Belgium, All Together At The Table offers a great recipe of cooking tips, celebrities and fun that is sure to whet the appetite of our viewers at home. We Belgians are famously proud of our cooking and we are excited to add this to the menu for our audience’s evening viewing.”

Olivia Haynes, The Story Lab’s global sales and development manager who struck the SBS deal, added: “Our deal with SBS means that All Together At The Table is set to replicate its success in France and become ‘the biggest cooking class in Belgium’. SBS’s production of the show proves how this format is ideally suited to socially distanced filming and can, if needed, be delivered within an exceptionally short time frame.”
