Primitives takes distribution rights to cooking/interview format ‘This Is Your Fridge’

Belgium-based entertainment, reality and factual format distributor Primitives has acquired all rights to cooking/celebrity interview format This Is Your Fridge.

The show, produced by Mendoza Films, was originally launched in the UK in 1990 and sold into the Nordics and Germany, before being revived in the 2010s across the Nordics and Latvia and distributed by Banijay International.

Each edition of This Is Your Fridge sees a chef and an interviewer knock on a celebrity’s door and then, using whatever they find in the kitchen, prepare a meal while engaging in revealing conversation and sitting down to dinner together.

Siobhan Crawford, head of sales at Primitives, commented: “Cooking should not just be competitive, after all, the kitchen and dining room are social environments for conversation.

“We had a missing piece in our catalogue and sought out this relatable title, which fits our Belgian style perfectly.”

This latest acquisition for the Benelux distributor comes hot on the heels of its entertainment format The Container Cup being adapted by LA-based 3 Ball Productions for WarnerMedia’s US pay-TV network TBS.

The show is based on a Belgian format that aired on Vier earlier this year.
