Nordics go big on factual in bumper Cineflix Rights sales
Broadcasters and platforms across the Nordic region have acquired more than 450 hours of factual content following a slew of deals with distributor Cineflix Rights.
TV2 in Denmark has picked up multiple seasons of three shows hosted by Property Brothers Drew and Jonathan Scott, including seasons one to six of Brother Vs. Brother (36 x 60-minutes), produced by Scott Brothers Entertainment, seasons one to six of Property Brothers: Buying And Selling (104 x 60-minutes), produced by Cineflix Productions – both HGTV in the US and Canada and The Property Brothers At Home (4 x 60-minutes), which was made by Scott Brothers Entertainment for HGTV in US.
The network also took the 1 x 60-minute special The Queen’s Green Planet, produced by ITN Productions for ITV in the UK.
Seasons one and two of Seadog Productions and Motion Content Group’s My Family And The Galapagos (7 x 60-minutes) are heading to SVT in Sweden and YLE in Finland, while the 1 x 60-minute Egypt’s Lost Pyramid, from At Land Productions and Lion TV, was sold to DR in Denmark, NENT in Sweden and YLE in Finland.
Among many other deals were DR and SVT taking Sandstone Global Productions’s 1 x 60-minute doc Warrior Women With Lupita Nyong’o, while Viasat World acquired seasons one and two of McAvoy Media’s Inside Taronga Zoo.
Sandra Piha, SVP of sales, pan-regional, UK, Eire, and Scandinavia at Cineflix Rights, said that she was “thrilled” to have closed the deals with “longstanding partners across the Nordic region.”
The sales come just days after Cineflix Rights CEO Chris Bonney revealed that he is to step down from the company next year, after eight years in the role.
Bonney, who joined Cineflix Media’s sales and acquisitions arm in 2012 to replace former boss Paul Heaney, is to retire mid-2021 following an extended period of transition when the company will appoint a successor.
