Spain’s RTVE orders local version of ITVS quiz format ‘Beat The Chasers’
Spanish broadcaster RTVE has commissioned a local version of ITV Studios’ UK quiz show format Beat The Chasers, to air this spring on TVE.
Spain is the fifth territory to acquire the format, which is a spin-off of the game show The Chase, since last spring. This adaptation will be produced by Mediacrest and locally titled as La Noche De Los Cazadores and will see some of the greatest quiz minds in Spain taking on the resident ‘chasers’ for a chance at winning a cash prize.
The Beat The Chasers format was created by Potato, part of ITV Studios, which distributes the format internationally. It has completed a second season in the UK and also shows local versions on RTL4 in the Netherlands, while a new version is heading to MTV3 in Finland, produced by ITV Studios Finland.
“We’re very excited about the challenge of releasing Beat The Chasers in Spain after the success achieved with The Chase‘s (El Cazador) in the evening slot of public service broadcaster TVE,” said Daniel Domenjó, executive director of Mediacrest.
“The sustained and steady increase in share and high loyalty levels achieved from Monday to Friday has taken us to the channel’s prime time.”
