Pulse Films names Anna Friel ‘The Perfect Girlfriend’ & partners for series adaptation
London-based Pulse Films has acquired the rights to adapt British author Karen Hamilton’s thriller novel The Perfect Girlfriend into a scripted series.
Thomas Benski and Nicola Larder will executive produce for Pulse Films, alongside actor Anna Friel (Marcella), whose production company Wonder Well Productions has boarded as co-producer, while she will star in the project.
The Perfect Girlfriend follows the story of a woman who appears to have everything going for her, but hides a disturbing darkness as she obsesses about her ex-boyfriend and will do anything to win him back.
“Working in partnership with outstanding talent like Anna Friel is the cornerstone of everything we do at Pulse Films,” said company CEO Benski. “The Perfect Girlfriend is another example of how we empower and celebrate storytellers to amplify British made television that will electrify global audiences.”
“Pulse was the obvious home for this story,” added Friel. “I find Thomas Benski to be one of the most exciting, innovative and cool leaders out there in this mad industry of ours. To be teaming up with Nicola Larder once again is creatively empowering and to continue an already fruitful collaboration on this new venture is thrilling.”
This latest acquisition by Pulse Films’ scripted division follows the company’s announcement that it is to adapt Laura Dockrill’s What Have I Done? into a television series.
The company is also currently in development and in pre-production on a slate of scripted projects including drama series Atomic Bazaar, about the shadowy world of nuclear trafficking, and Perfect, a feature film from director Olivia Wilde about Olympic gymnast Kerri Strug.
