Quebecor Content preps French-Canadian ‘Masked Singer’ after MBC deal
Canada’s Quebecor Content has picked up adaptation rights to hit South Korean format The King Of Masked Singer (aka The Masked Singer).
The deal has been struck with the sales arm of original broadcaster Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC), which has seen the format already adapted in more that 40 countries.
Broadcaster details of the French-Canadian version have not yet been revealed but Quebecor Content’s parent houses the TVA Group, which operates networks across the region.
The French-language show is set to debut later in the fall and will join existing versions on ITV in the UK and Fox in the US, among a plethora of others. Those deals were struck via Fremantle, which also sells the format for MBC.
Christine Maestracci, VP of acquisitions & international distribution at Quebecor Content, said: “We are delighted to add The Masked Singer to the long list of internationally successful formats that Quebecor Content and local producers have brilliantly adapted to the Quebec market.”
