Apple TV+ orders David Attenborough doc & extends ‘Tiny World’, ‘Earth At Night In Colour’
Apple TV+ has expanded its natural history repertoire with a BBC Studios (BBCS) wildlife documentary narrated by David Attenborough in the works, along with second season orders of Tiny World and Earth At Night In Colour.
The Year Earth Changed will explore the global lockdown and the uplifting stories that have come out of it, such as hearing birdsong in deserted cities and witnessing whales communicating in new ways.
The special is being produced by BBCS Natural History Unit and directed by Tom Beard, with executive producers Mike Gunton and Alice Keens-Soper.
The show will debut on 16 April, ahead of Earth Day on 22 April, along with the second seasons of docuseries Tiny World and Earth At Night In Colour.
Paul Rudd returns to narrate and executive produce Tiny World, which is produced by Plimsoll Productions, while the six-part second season of Earth At Night In Colour is narrated by Tom Hiddleston (Avengers) and produced by Offspring Films.
Attenborough said: “During this most difficult year many people have reappraised the value and beauty of the natural world and taken great comfort from it.
“But the lockdown also created a unique experiment that has thrown light on the impact we have on the natural world. The stories of how wildlife responded have shown that making even small changes to what we do can make a big difference.”
