NBC remakes Spanish dark dramedy ‘Señoras del (h)Ampa’
US broadcaster NBC has ordered a pilot for a local adaptation of Spanish dark comedy Señoras del (h)Ampa.
The remake has been titled Dangerous Moms and is being produced by Warner Bros. Television, with Janine Sherman Barrois attached as writer and exec producer.
The story follows four diverse mothers who accidentally kill the queen bee of their school’s parents’ association during the demonstration of a new high-end food processor.
The original Spanish show was from Carlos del Hoyo and Abril Zamora, with Mediaset España and Producciones Mandarina producing.
A first season was broadcast on Mediaset’s Telecinco two years ago, with Amazon Prime Video snagging rights to the second season.
The original has already sold widely via Mediaset’s distribution arm, with Globosat in Brazil, RTL Deutschland and RTBF in Belgium taking rights. Format sales have also previously been struck in Italy, Greece, Romania and Hungary.
Mediaset’s Arantxa Écija and Producciones Mandarina’s Santi Botello are among exec producers on the US remake, alongside Rachel Kaplan for Absecon Entertainment, and Tariq Jalil and Lucas Carter from Intrigue Entertainment.
