Sky cancels ‘Bulletproof’ in wake of Noel Clarke allegations

European pay-TV operator Sky has cancelled crime drama series Bulletproof, following the array of sexual harassment allegations made against star Noel Clarke last month.

UK newspaper The Guardian detailed accusations including claims that Clarke had bullied, sexually harassed and verbally abused co-workers on set between 2004 and 2019.

He is also alleged to have taken, and shared, sexually explicit pictures and videos without consent. Clarke denies all but one of the claims, which related to making inappropriate comments to a woman. As a result, Clarke had his recently awarded outstanding contribution to British cinema prize revoked by Bafta.

A fourth season of the Vertigo Films-produced Bulletproof was commissioned earlier this year, but has now been cancelled. The series is sold internationally by NBCUniversal Global Distribution, which has struck deals with Canada’s Corus Entertainment and The CW in the US, among others.

In a statement, Comcast-backed Sky confirmed to TBI: “Sky will not be proceeding with any further series of Bulletproof,” while Vertigo told Variety, which first reported the development, that it would not be making any future seasons.

It is understood that other options were explored before cancellation, including recasting Clarke’s character, but this was not considered a workable solution given his creative input as co-creator, co-writer and co-star, alongside Ashley Walters.
