Sky revives long-running BBC comedy panel show ‘Buzzcocks’
British comedy panel show Never Mind The Buzzcocks is to return after a six year break from the screen, with a new series on Sky and streaming service NOW.
The music-themed comedy show will return this autumn as an 8 x 45-minute series, plus a one-off Christmas special, produced once again by Fremantle’s Talkback label.
Never Mind The Buzzcocks originally aired on BBC2 for 27 seasons between 1996 and 2015, but will now move to Sky, where it will air as a Sky Original.
Taskmaster pressenter Greg Davies will take over hosting duties on the new series, while The Mighty Boosh’s Noel Fielding will return as a team captain alongside This Country’s Daisy May Cooper. Hate Thy Neighbours’ Jamali Maddix will meanwhile feature as a recurring guest, with the regulars joined each episode by a changing roster of music and comedy stars.
The series is executive produced by Kate Edmunds and Talkback MD Jonno Richards and the series producer is Jordan Read. Fremantle holds the global format rights.
“Buzzcocks is one of those truly iconic shows and to be bringing it back with Greg Davies at the helm, alongside Daisy May Cooper, Noel Fielding and Jamali Maddix is a buzz and a treat for lovers of tuneless humming everywhere,” commented Phil Edgar-Jones, director of Sky Arts and Entertainment for Sky.
