AMC streamer SundanceNow buys British remake of ‘Call My Agent!’

AMC Networks’ streaming service SundanceNow has acquired exclusive US premiere rights to the Enlgish-language remake of Call My Agent!.

The new version of the show, which originated on France 2 before becoming a global hit via Netflix, is being remade in English by Headline Pictures, with John Morton (W1A) writing and directing the first two episodes.

The original show’s producers, Aurélien Larger and Harold Valentin of Mother Productions, are also attached as exec producers on the remake, along with Dominique Besnehard and Michel Feller of Mon Voisin Productions, while BRON Studios is producing, co-financing and distributing.

Morton also executive produces, while Dominic West (The Crown), Phoebe Dynevor (Bridgerton), Jessica Oyelowo (The Water Man), Helena Bonham Carter (The Harry Potter) and David Oyelowo (Nightingale) are among those appearing.

The remake will premiere on SundanceNow in the US in 2022, shortly after its UK world premiere, and producers say it will “keep the sensibilities and premise of the French series”, in which the staff of a Parisian talent agency must hustle to keep clients happy after the abrupt death of their founder, while juggling their own personal and love lives. The UK version will be set in London and explore subjects such as class inequality.
