Monkeypaw Productions expands development team
Jordan Peele’s US prodco Monkeypaw Productions has appointed Jamal Watson as VP of production and development and promoted Alex Kim to VP of development.
Watson joins from Overbrook Entertainment, where he started his career as an intern before rising through the ranks and working on films including Aladdin and Hala.
“Jamal is the rare executive who understands production and development in the deep and holistic way that’s well-suited to Monkeypaw’s mission and ambition. He’s quickly proven to be a key member of the team,” commented Monkeypaw’s president Win Rosenfeld.
Kim, meanwhile, works across Monkeypaw’s TV and film slate, and recently produced the second season of The Twilight Zone and Lovecraft Country for HBO, and Hunters on Amazon. Both Watson and Kim will report to Rosenfeld.
The company has also promoted Jasmyne Peck-Bailey to development executive and Amy McLeish to production coordinator, with both tasked with working across Monkeypaw’s slate of TV, film and audio productions.
News of the promotions was first reported by Deadline.
