HBO Max in Lat Am & Spain’s FilminTV pick up ‘Pørni’
HBO Max in Latin America and Spanish streamer Filmin TV are among companies to have picked up Pørni, the Norwegian comedy-drama created by and starring Henriette Steenstrup.
The show, which received its French premier at Series Mania 2021 earlier this week, is produced by Monster Scripted and has become the most-watched Norwegian original drama for commissioner Viaplay since debuting in May.
It has since received a two season extension, with HBO Max acquiring the first season and committing to pick up the subsequent second and third seasons.
Filmin TV in Spain has also acquired an exclusive first window for all three 6 x 30-minute seasons, with Cosmo TV acquiring the second window rights for both seasons one and two. The show is sold by Keshet International (KI).
Jaume Ripoll, co-founder & editorial director of Filmin, said: “Porni is one of the most thrilling and well-written series I have seen in a while. Spanish audiences will love Henriette Steenstrup’s supermom character. It is one of our highlight series for this Q4 2021.”
Kelly Wright, KI’s SVP of distribution & new business, added: “Henriette is well-loved by Spanish-speaking audiences globally thanks to the massive popularity of Ragnarok, further evidence of how more and more people around the world are enjoying dramas from foreign countries.”
The show tracks a middle-aged single parent played by Steenstrup as she looks for love, while juggling working in child protection services, looking after three teenagers and taking care of her ageing father.
