ITV’s Asif Zubairy steps down as entertainment commissioner
ITV entertainment commissioner Asif Zubairy has left the UK commercial broadcaster.
Zubairy joined ITV in 2014 following a spell as a contractor and was behind shows including Take Me Out.
Before that, he had been head of entertainment at Nine Network in Australia and also had spells at Paramount and Disney.
Katie Rawcliffe, ITV’s head of entertainment commissioning, confirmed the news in a memo to staff, adding that Zubairy “has decided that now is the right time to leave ITV.”
She added: “He has been responsible for entertainment commissioning for the past seven years, working on a number of exciting projects and has also been an active and valued member of the Embrace network, taking the time to represent ITV on a number of D&I related panels. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Asif for everything he has done in his role and for ITV and wish him success in whatever comes next.”
