SBS in Oz buys Norwegian-German terrorist drama ‘Furia’
Australian public broadcaster SBS has become the first company to strike a pre-sale deal for Keshet International (KI)’s drama Furia.
The show, which was created by Mammon’s Gjermund S Eriksen, is being produced by Norway’s Monster Scripted and Germany’s X-Filme Creative Pool for Nordic streamer Viaplay and ZDF in Germany. Magnus Martens (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) directs.
The eight-part thriller – set in Oslo, Berlin and rural western Norway – centers around a special ops officer who finds himself tasked with tracking down a far-right extremist terror cell that want to carry out an atrocity the likes of which Europe has never seen before.
Peter Andrews, head of network programming, TV and online content for SBS, said: “Every now and then, a drama series comes along, and I go “wow”. Furia, with its extraordinary characters and meticulously crafted story, is on one level an incredible thrill-ride for the audience, but on another level, a prescient wake-up call for the world.”
